The use of Bible Reading Notes which started in 1879 as Bible Reading Cards has popularized this movement to pursue its aim of working with churches to encourage people of all ages to come to God daily through the word of God and prayer. In Nigeria, this annual Bible Engagement program is complemented with distributing our published daily reading notes designed to enrich believers’ spiritual lives.

The notes are of English versions and some local languages.
In these days when many Reading Notes are competing for attention, we wish to inform our valued readers of some of the distinctiveness of Scripture Union Reading Notes (i.e. those things that make SU Reading Notes unique).
This will enable the users to appreciate the value of the Notes and so help them to make more adequate use of them.
Our Reading note is like a chisel use to open a tin of milk. The Tin of milk is the Bible. The Milk inside is the word of God. Our daily reading note is to the Bible what chisel is to the tin of milk.

We encourage our devotional reading public to build the discipline of daily Bible reading habit to enable them listen to God each day. We expect that regular encounter with the Bible leads to change and growth in Christian maturity..
Our materials do not stand alone. Usually we would expect our materials to help one to explore the Bible. No one will enjoy reading them alone without the Bible.
Our use of the Bible is systematic and not randomly. We aim to expound the scripture carefully and contextually. In the long run, we help the reader to have a better understanding of the word of God.

We teach people to respond to the Bible text in a thoughtful and meditative way. We encourage them to come to the Bible humbly and prayerfully and to explore its message methodically and carefully.

We use the daily question method to encourage personal meditation on the text, and help the reader identify the message in the passage.

We are glad to use a large team of writers and teachers with their various backgrounds and perspectives and we attempt editorial consistency.
Our materials are not with denominational biases since we are neither pro nor against any church denomination.

These are some of the general features of our reading notes that have helped many Christians in the past. We have no doubt that God will use them to take our numerous devotional users to higher spiritual understanding as they continue to use them. We now share the unique features of these notes..

DAILY GUIDE
This is the adult English version of SU devotionals for individual and family use. Writers and contributors are carefully selected across African nations and beyond.

Fully edited Daily Guide is sent to the various national movement of Scripture Union .A unique feature of Daily Guide is the “Theme Studies”. In it, we work to bring the message of the scripture and the issues of the world together. Sometimes, we begin with the scripture and search for its application to life in society; sometimes we begin with questions raised in the world and go back to the scriptures to seek meaning and truth. We try to take seriously the culture and context of our readers/users.

DAILY GUIDE DELUXE
This carries the same features of conventional or regular Daily Guide. The unique feature is the different packaging with bolder character of the text designed to meet the need and yearning of senior citizens among our reading public who will appreciate the comfort of it.

DAILY POWER
This is our youth devotional and appropriate for people of secondary school age. It originates from Nigeria and has been adopted by other African countries. It carries a large team of writers and contributors carefully selected in Nigeria with an Editor.
As part of our efforts to engage young people with the Bible and promote youth rescue, we organize bible quiz drawn from the daily power during which period we give out a lot of exciting prizes in competitions that span from LGA to National levels (four in all). It can be adopted for moral instructions or morning devotion in secondary school and youth church section.
